Why Product Philanthropy?
Our Belief
Things that most people take for granted can often change the lives of others.
What is United Way Distribution Services?
UWDS is a program of United Way of Massachusetts Bay and Merrimack Valley (Greater Boston, Lowell and Lawrence), United Way of Tri-County (The Metrowest/495 Corridor, Framingham, Milford, Clinton and Norwood),United Way of North Central Massachusetts (Greater Fitchburg, Leominster), and Granite United Way (New Hampshire).
Through our affiliation with Gifts-in-Kind International and generous local and regional corporations, we obtain new and gently used items such as office furniture, computers, office supplies, hardware, paint, home goods and other items for distribution to local not-for-profits, schools and municipalities. Distributions are made with a portage fee of 15% of the item’s retail cost.
Why do we do it?
United Way recognizes the value of Product Philanthropy as a direct service program to the not-for-profit community and created UWDS to serve the Product Philanthropy needs of the not-for-profit community of Central New England.
